iSpeed POV

Intamin’s latest creation, iSpeed, at the Italian park Mirabilandia is open and looks phenomenal!

Originally I thought the layout was very weird and didn’t look good.  But now that I have seen more completed pictures of the ride, I think it looks great.  It seems like a combination of  Maverick (Cedar Point) and Rita: Queen of Speed (Alton Towers).  Some of the elements are taken very sharply and would be extreme and thrilling.

My only concern about the ride is the station.  The park chose to go with a very modern station.  However, give it 10 years and this station won’t look so modern?

Sorry Atem, but I think otherwise. I have to say that Blue Fire does a much better job of creating an overall better experience then this ride. This ride has zero theming and has a layout that doesn’t feature that many unique elements. I mean, look at Blue Fire and all those unique, rare elements that it features AND the theming on top of that.

I absolutely love the transition at 0:24… very fast and smooth looking.

Blue Fire’s only mildly unique element is the overbank, everything else has been done, mainly by Intamin too, and yes europa park did a better job with their theming, but the layout on this is way better, give me a tophat over an overbank anyway, plus that airtime hill is nuts

Looks very nice! Very fast and intense, but I’m not sure about the smal turns after the drop… I’d rather it to be a straight piece of track. Oh well, the layout it’s great, still. And I really like the station, but I agree, it will not look as good as it looks today in 10 years..

I think we’re seeing the next generation of Intamin launched coasters. I believe the hydraulic cable system maybe dying out due to its low reliability and previous problems. The LSM system really is the way to go. Both quiet and clean, plus it can do the same launch over and over without changing the speed, which was a problem with the hydraulic cable system. The hydraulic cable system never launched the same twice.
