The former White Lightnin’ was a  Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop that was one of the first launched roller coasters in the world. The ride was removed in 1988 and moved to Gold Reef City in South Africa where it still operates as Golden Loop.  This name for the new roller coaster, expected to be a B&M Hyper coaster comes as a big surprise to many Carowinds fans because the track expected to be coming to Carowinds, currently sitting at a manufacturing plant in Ohio, is all red:

As for an update on the construction, several footers have been laid including one large footer similar to the ones found at the bottom of the lift hill on many B&M roller coasters. There is still some land clearing progressing around the same area and the parking lot has become home to a large amount of re-bar.
