21 people were taken to local hospitals with back and neck injuries after 2 trains collided on the famous Big Dipper roller coaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. After the collision, the two trains came to rest on a section of track about 20 feet of the ground, leaving the passengers stranded on the ride until the fire department could respond and rescue the riders.  Many people seem to thing that the problem was related to an earlier problem with the ride that was reported and repaired, the park denies the claim and says that that it was “wholly unrelated” to today’s accident. Big Dipper has been closed until a full investigation is completed.

Wow, what a bad week in the theme park world, with yesterday’s incident at California’s Great America, the death of another cast member at Walt Disney World and now this.
