I was able to take some time to download Freestyle Music Park’s brand new free iPhone/iPod Touch App and browse through it. It’s not a blow-your-socks-off kind of app, but it sure would be helpful to have in the park with you!

Beginning View

Beginning View on Launch

When you first launch the app, you’re welcomed by the drawn map of the park. No fancy animations on it, just a simple sketched map with icons over attractions, dinning, shops, and shows.

You can easily zoom into any attraction, dinning place, shop, or show, and then touch it. The name pops up and from there, you can view details about that ride.

This is where the app starts to disappoint. The details are the ride’s name, location, height requirement, and the cheesy park-written description. There’s no facts about the rides. I do see the possibility of them adding in a real-time wait time feature. That would be a great feature to help plan out where you wanted to go next.

Another part of the app that is great is the interests menu. They just didn’t put rides and shows in, but also dinning and shopping. A great feature if you’re looking for somewhere to eat or take a break!

The simple To-Do List

The simple To-Do List

The To-Do list is something that would be great at huge parks with many rides and attractions that you could miss. I do not see the point in having a to-do list with such a small park. I’m sure someone out there would probably like the feature though.

Overall, the app is good, but not great. I would enjoy seeing apps made for large parks where you could really use having the map and to-do list at ready anytime. I look forward to hearing how the GPS feature works once it is added onto the app. That is sure to be an easier way to see where you are in the park.

If you’re interested in getting the app, you can visit the official web page for it, or get at the iTunes App Store.

What do you think of the app? Love it, hate it, wish more parks would do it? Leave your thoughts!
