2009 Golden Ticket Awards

Yesterday, September 10th, 2009, was the ceremony for the Golden Ticket Awards 2009.  As always, this is one of the more presitigous events that parks do like to advertise and talk about as being a “Golden Ticket Holder.”  Like years before, this year included some suprises and some expected winners.   Here are some of the highlights:

  • Best Park:  Cedar Point (27%)
  • Best Water Park: Schillterbahn (60%)
  • Best New Ride for 2009: Prowler (35%)
  • Best Steel Coaster: Bizarro, Six Flags New England
  • Best Wooden Coaster: The Voyage, Holiday World

    Surprised that Sweden recived 3 awards in the walkthroughsection!
    Liseberg got 3rd with Gasten and Grönalund got the 4th and 5th place with Lustiga huset and Spökslottet :)

    I’m curious of how Intimidator 305 will score at the 2010 awards, i think it will score high, it wont knowck down MF and Bizzaro though :)

    I’m so glad to see Prowler got the best New Ride for 2009 (and be ranked #8 in the world)! It’s such a great coaster, and Worlds of Fun truly deserves it! Congrats to them!

    I am not sure if Prowler really is the number 1 coaster this year? I would think Manta would be…
    I still don’t think Cedar Point is the best park.

    Egypt: Gasten @ Liseberg recived 3rd place as the best walkthrough attraction, Gasten is really scary, an incredibly fun experience

    I’m go glad to see Dollywood take Best Shows… With the addition of Sha-Kon-O-Hey! on top of their already amazing show line up, they really deserve it.

    haha, I think they added the night show just to put Disney in there. They had to give them an award for something.

    I bet El Toro is #2 next year… people are steadily realizing the El Toro is #1!! It went from #7 to #4 to #3.
