A few days ago, we showed you California’s Great America’s newly rethemed Planet Snoopy, but another opened last weekend as well, at Carowinds. Since this isn’t the big addition for Carowinds with Intimidator, the park’s new B&M hyper coaster, also debuting this year, Planet Snoopy has kind of fallen into its shadows, literally. The first thing you notice when standing in Planet Snoopy is the huge, 232 foot tall mega coaster that now surrounds you, it really provides a nice backdrop for the beautiful children’s area.

Like at California’s Great America, every ride was renamed and rethemed from the former Nickelodeon characters, with most getting a fresh coat of paint. The whole area looks and feels brand new, with no true additions to the area, truly an amazing accomplishment by Cedar Fair and the park.

Now for some photos:

The new paint job for Flying Ace Aerial Chase really livens up the area.

All of the rides feature great Peanuts inspired details, this one on Snoopy vs. Red Baron.

The new look for “Woodstock Gliders” is widely preferred over the previous Danny Phantom theme.

Intimidator towering over a newly repainted “Lucy’s Crabbie Cabbie”

And we’ll end this update with a panorama of one side of Planet Snoopy (Click to enlarge):

What do you think of Planet Snoopy at Carowinds? Prefer it over the Nickelodeon themeing? Leave your comments and Park Thoughts!

I prefer the new Peanuts theme. Nickelodeon has too many shows that are constantly being added, canceled, and so on. With this new Peanuts theme, the area seems to have a more “uniform” look to it.

Props to Cedar Fair to keeping Snoopy, Charlie and the rest of the gang in their parks and not giving into Nickelodeon’s ridiculous royalty fees!

I agree with Doug, Nickelodeon theming is somewhat ridiculous, and the peanuts theme looks awesome :D

I saw Planet Snoopy last weekend and went the weekend before that. The design is really great and I noticed lots of happy children. The main thing that I noticed were the characters. On Sunday, April 18th, I met the best Snoopy character ever. The only problem is that the Snoopy I met on Saturday, April 17th lacked enthusiasm. The Sunday’s Snoopy was amazing. I grew up with the Peanut characters in California, so when I moved to North Carolina and didn’t have them originally, I looked forward to the characters when Planet Snoopy was announced. I hope that the park notices the difference between the characters and fix that problem. I really think that the Sunday’s Snoopy is the best Snoopy that I have ever met.

I am a huge Snoopy fan. Though I haven’t been to see Planet Snoopy yet, I do have solid plans to do so. Even though Planet Snoopy is for the kids, I don’t know a single adult including myself that doesn’t remember growing up with Snoopy and the Peanuts gang.I’m sure all the grown ups will be just as excited as the kids are. I know I will !!!
