Two weeks ago, we asked what attraction you are most excited for in 2011.  Choices included the first of it’s kinda Bolliger and Mabillard coaster Raptor at Gardaland; the super massive Windseeker swinging attractions at multiple Cedar Fair parks; Texas Giant at Six Flags Over Texas, a newly rennovated super beast that is has undergone transformation from a wooden coaster to a steel coaster; Georgia’s first EuroFighter, Dare Devil Dive at Six Flags Over Georgia; the first ZacSpin coaster in the US, Green Lantern at Six Flags Magic Mountain; Cheetah Hunt, a custom designed, terrain conforming Intamin multilaunch at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay; and lastly the impeccably themed Star Tours 2 and the Little Mermaid at Walt Disney World and theDisneyland Resort.

With 30% of the votes, Cheetah Hunt emerged victorious.  A total of 53 voters pitched in their opinion for this poll.  This season, Cheetah Hunt definitely stands out from the rest.  Busch Gardens used their amazing talent to blend a modern marvel thrill machine with the majesty of the Cheetah.  Cheetah Hunt is well under construction and is dubbed as allowing riders to “Feel the Spirit. Feel the Speed.”  Throughout the ride will be three different launches reaching speeds of 60 mph, a unique figure 8 element and multiple inversions.  In addition, the park will be adding a new Cheetah exhibit to the park’s vast array of animal collections.

We’re only a few short months away from opening this beast and we all hope it will meet it’s high expectations.

It’s that time again for a new poll!  With all this New Year’s fuss out of the way, it’s time that a new more specific poll be introduced.  The West Coast and East Coast of the United States have forever had their differences.  And the coaster world is no different.  Six Flags Great Adventure vs. Six Flags Magic Mountain.  Sea World San Diego or Sea World Orlando.  Walt Disney World or the Disneyland Resort.  However one of the best match ups of them all is between two particular coasters; Tatsu and Manta.  Both are Bolliger and Mabillard ‘Flying Machines’ that place riders in a Superman style position,  Opened in 2006, Six Flags Magic Mountain unleashed Tatsu to the world with a record breaking 124 foot tall Pretzel loop.  With the unique terrain of Six Flags Magic Mountain, the park was able to create a flying coaster with dimensions that can simply be unmatched by a park on the ground.  Manta, however opened 3 years later in 2009 at Sea World Orlando.  The rie delivered on some Tatsu did not: theming.  Also, due to the flat nature of the park, the park took a different route with the more airtime and lower to the ground elements.

So which is better?  The theming and detail of Manta? Or the height and forces Tatsu?  Poll closes February 16th so remember to vote in the poll and leave a comment with your Park Thoughts below.

Battle of the Flying Coasters: Manta vs Tatsu

  • Manta at Sea World Orlando (65%, 26 Votes)
