Six Flags, a major amusement park company, owns many parks all over North America. Many say that either “Six Flags Magic Mountain” or “Six Flags Great Adventure” are their flagship park, and these parks have flourished over the years. However, there are several Six Flags parks that have seen little to no improvement or additions over the years. Here are some of the “shunned”.

1. Six Flags America, in Maryland, has had no new roller coaster in 8 years, since the addition of “Batwing” in 2001, a Vekoma flying dutchman. The park does not feature many coasters, and has no headliners among its list. The park includes “Superman: Ride of Steel”, a “not-as-good” version of the coaster in SFNE, “Joker’s Jinx”, an outdoor “Flight of Fear”, and “ROAR!” a wooden coaster, which by my friend’s standards, is “OK”.

2. The Great Escape, in Lake George, NY, has not had a large scale coaster added for a long time. Their coasters include “Alpine Bobsled”, which was moved from my home park, Great Adventure, and “Comet” a wooden coaster.

3. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, which includes very few coasters, has not had a new one for 6 years. The newest coaster, Greezed Lightnin’, is not “new”, since it was moved from Six Flags Over Georgia when it closed. This park has the very successful “Chang”, a good B&M stand up.

Cedar Fair, the other major amusement park company, is not innocent of ignoring some parks either.

1. Michigan’s Adventure (you can read a review by Jeremie on this site) has been very much neglected over the past years. Though it did get a new coaster in 2008, “Thunderhawk”, it was a standarn SLC from Vekoma, which was not “new”, it was moved from Geuga Lake.

2. California’s Great America (again, you can find a review on the site) has not recieved a new coaster for 8 years, since “Pyscho Mouse” was added. Survivor: The Ride and Firefall have been added, but the park does remain seriously unbalanced.
