It’s been a while since the last CGA Update, but here is another one.  It was a day out with family so this will be short.

It was hot, so the water rides were naturally popular.  White Water Falls has a good 15-25 minute line.

Believe it or not, Invertigo was open!  It actually has been open for the past few weeks if you didn’t know.  I rode it.  It was a bit rougher then I remember but that might be due to bad memory.  It is still one of the smoothest rides in the park.  Something noteworthy: I rode facing forwards, and going backwards through the loop and the 2nd half of the cobra roll was much rougher then the rest of the ride, but still very smooth.

Drop Tower was also….open.

Peanuts Party in the Plaza performs daily on the plaza stage at 5 pm.  Check it out sometime.  Personally, after seeing the show once, I have no real desire for seeing it again.

-Star Tower-

The entrance to Slaughterhouse was laid flat on the ground.  Along with the signage for Snoopy’s Party in the Plaza.

The outhouses for Corn Stalkers were all lined up behind the IMAX theater.  I don’t think is new however, I am assuming they are stored here all year.

Club Blood is the only maze that I can see visible progress.  Werewolf Canyon has not started construction at all.  Rue le Doge is still open so no signs of CarnEvil.  Toy Factory is mostly indoor but the outdoor portion hasn’t been touched.  Slaughterhouse is indoor so I have no idea.  As for Corn Stalkers, I forgot to go up the exit of Grizzly to check it out.

Club Blood started the earliest last year also from my memory.  I want to say I remember seeing construction on it way back in June of 09.  I may be wrong however.

Last minute notes:

  • The Wild Thornberry’s RV is backstage and has been painted all black with yellow teeth on the front.  Perhaps it could be part of Halloween Haunt this year?
  • The park was packed, with a long line for the carousel even.
  • Planet Snoopy CGA pales in comparison to the versions justa announced for Valleyfair/Dorney Park/Worlds of Fun
  • I believe that all rides in the park were operating that day!

That’s it for today.  Sorry for the lack of detailing/descriptions.  I’m tired and was with family and friends so didn’t have time to do real in depth hunting.  Be sure to check back for another CGA Update.

Ever since it debuted in 2008, Halloween Haunt at California’s Great America has proved to be one of the most popular times of year for the park.  Each year the park continues to add new shows and mazes.  New for this year will be “Black Widow’s Cavern”, a Halloween themed overlay to the park’s log flume.  What was once an old loggers run is now infested by spine tingling spiders that could kill at any moment.  Also new for 2010 is the seductive Fangs show in the Great America Theater.  While this event is one of Cedar Fair’s smallest the park definitely continues to keep up the quality with all of their new attractions.

Mazes:

CarnEvil

Werewolf Canyon

Corn Stalkers

Toy Factory

Slaughter House

Club Blood

Scare Zones:

The Gauntlet

Witch Doctor’s Trail

Dead Man’s Cove

Underworld Alley

Shows:

Fangs (New for 2010!)

Bang! PrimEvil Percussion

Haunted Hypnosis

Shocking Sideshow of Freaks

Rides:

Black Widow’s Cavern (New for 2010!)

Summer is in full throttle and the crowds are pouring into California’s Great America.  Atleast, that’s what one would think.  However, it doesn’t seem to be the case.  On this lovely day, crowds were sparse, lines were short (practically walk-on), but fun was plentiful.  Haunt construction has still yet to begin, and the 4th of July decor has been taken down.  So it’s nice to see the park as it’s plain self again.

“Mister Blue Sky, please tell us why you had to fly away for so long.  Where did we go wrong?”

The Demon looking majestic amongst the shining sun.

On this hot summer day, Boomerang Bay was packed with people however, lines were lite and din’t extend beyond 5 minutes.  Mainly children ride the water slides while adults hang out in the pools, or in one of the hundreds of lounge chairs.

In other news, I will be creating a Boomerang Bay video tour in the coming days.  Expect to see one within the next week.

At Rock Band Live, the All Wheels Extreme crew came out to support their dancer who was singing in the show.  To the left of her is the host of the show on the drums, and to the right is the assistant who does an awesome job lip syncing nearly every song.

Speaking of All Wheels Extreme , it had a fairly small crowd for the 3:00 show.

This picture was taken at 2:30.  Unfortunately it was not operational.  I have to admit, it was a very slow day at CGA.  With nearly nothing new.

Oh look!  It’s a short line!

While the rest of my party went on the Demon, I wanted to spare my ears, so I took some lovely shots of the near by flowers.

Across the way, Invertigo’s entrance had an employee out front.  The train was also filled with water dummies.

As I was taking some shots, I heard a kid scream “YES!” I turned around and behold!  Invertigo was indeed testing!

Invertigo, at California’s Great America in Santa Clara, California, was one of the park’s most popular attractions that is until it’s accident back in Summer 2009. The accident was a simple chain stall, but recieved much media attention due to more than two dozen riders being stranded nearly 100 feet in the air.

Invertigo has been closed ever since the accident. However, in the past few weeks there have been indications of the attraction reopening. Walking by, I noticed water dummies, and while waiting for my party to get off the demon, the attraction started testing.

Sorry for the shaky camera. I was rushing to get my camera together to film it.

Could Invertigo as soon as late this month?

Haunt is just a few months away, and I have done some investigating to see if there is any new attractions this year.  After speaking with a Park Exec, I did gather this small bit of information:

The park has not gone over Halloween Haunt 2010 with it’s employees yet (as of 7.11.10).  But this year will NOT bring a new maze.  This is debunks the rumor I recieved last year from a park employee who stated that 2009 would be a Doll Factory (ended up being a Toy Factory) and 2010 would bring the Asylum.  While there will not be a new maze, there may be a new scare zone.  Personally, I rather see a Scare Zone since a new one hasn’t been introduced since the initial Halloween Haunt back in 2008.

While the Park Exec, did it directly, it sounds that the money that would have gone into a new attraction, instead went into offering Haunt on Sundays.  Which does sound reasonable.

That’s it for today.  Check back again soon for another CGA Update!
