Disney’s California Adventure’s highly anticipated nighttime spectacular, Disney’s World of Color, has finally been giving an opening date. Disney Parks confirmed on their official blog yesterday that the multi-media show will debut on June 11th, 2010. Disney also stated that there would be cast member and annual pass holder previews prior to the opening date.
Disney’s World of Color will be Disney’s California Adventure’s first nightly, nighttime extravaganza. The show is expected to compete with the next door neighbor’s, Disneyland’s, Fantasmic! World of Color brings Disney’s animated features to life through water fountains, projection, lasers, fire, and sound. At a rumored cost of more then 100 million dollars, the park has spent over a year building the show, and even longer designing. World of Color is a major part of Disney’s California Adventure’s 1.1 billion dollar expansion and is a huge step in the right direction.
As for those who are looking for a preview of the show, check out the video above. Want more? Do a quick Google search and you can find a video of a full length test run, with audio, shot in one of the near by hotels. Remember, that may spoil it for you! Expect the crowds to be huge for World of Color this summer. Hope to see you there.
Legoland California has announced a brand new 5.5 acre water based addition to their popular children’s theme park. At only an additional $10 to the standard theme park admission, the theme park is looking for this to keep guests staying longer and eventually turn the entire park into a full fledged resort with a hotel once the economy is in a better state.
The $15 million expansion is targeted at families with children 2-12 years old. Therefore don’t go expecting the biggest and best thrills, but instead, a great family park that has quite a bit of detail, heart, and nostalgia. Check out some of the details at the LA Times.
Also coming in 2010 to Legoland California, is a brand new 4D Cinema Experience. Themed to a group of Lego Heroes, it will combine giant 3D movie action, with physical effects to create an immersive LEGO experience.
Legoland is a wonderful park, and I feel these are two excellent additions. Do you feel the same? Leave a comment and park thought below?
Recently, the Disney Parks Blog posted a video showing off some of the up and coming additions to Disney’s California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort in California. Those hard core fans of the park knew just about all the information that was talked about in the video, however what they weren’t expecting was some new concept art.
Look at the picture above. Do you see what I see? If you are saying a typical logo for a blog’s video, you are wrong. Let’s back up the video a few fractions of a second and zoom in to help you.
That’s right. Those are what appear to be the blue prints for 2012′s Carsland at the park. They seem to be final version as it matches the models shown at the D23 Expo as well as the current cement walls/track/footers, that have been built in the area.
If you click on the picture to view the full version, you can see that it shows a very detailed layout of Radiator Springs Racers, the main attraction of the land. From what it appears, the indoor portion of the ride will be similar to Test Track at Epcot, going past a few sets, at a constant speed. However it gest interesting when the track splits and riders enter 1 of 2 different show scenes. Then they race each other for a high speed, but seemingly a rather short ending.
Weather or not Disney expected the internet to find these plans, it gives us a great glimpse into the upcoming attraction. The video also shows off some other nice pieces of concept art for the ride:
Part of the ride will go into a giant cave where giant “StalagLIGHTS” will be covering the ground and ceiling creating a truly imaginative and immersive experience for the Cars theme.
An Imagineer taking a virtual test ride through Radiator Springs Racers.
It appears this video gave literal meaning to “Seeing between the lines.” Be sure to leave your park thoughts below!
