When Kennywood announced their new LSM Premier Launch Coaster one thing they did not reveal was the name of the attraction. Well after some website searching, it appears that a park fan dug up a picture on Palace Entertainment’s main site that has what appears to be the attractions logo on it. What is unknown is if the piece was actually going to be part of the announcement and pulled at the last minute or if it is actually the logo that has just yet to be revealed. Looks like we will have to wait and find out; something Kennywood fans are used to doing by now. Leave a comment and park thought below!

While my experience at Kings Dominion was not very overwhelming, this ride sure was! The ride’s theming, and actual track all made for a thrilling ride, making it one of the very best at Kings Dominion. There is a clone of this ride at Kings Island as well, though this review is coming from the Kings Dominion clone.
Riders start off by entering the ride’s queue which is themed as the “Press” area of a large Area-54 type area. Over loud speakers, you can hear several “annoucements” for on-base personnel, many of which are humerous. My favorite is: “Due to some confusion, we will be moving the Mess Hall farther away from the specimen freezers, any personnel still experiencing side-effects should see the nurse”. The large, ominous warehouse leaves you wondering… what is inside?
As the queue lines moves indoors, you pass several barrels filled with “radioactive material”. Finally, you enter what seems like the warehouse, but is in reality only about half of it. The queue lines goes past a wall with a crack in it. Curious to see if I could see some of the ride’s mechanisms, I looked in the crack and was startled to see a pile of dead “aliens”! Big props to Kings Dominion for using my curiosity to expand the theme! What really gets your attention, though, is a large UFO in the middle of the warehouse, which our government is hiding from the country.
Riders enter the UFO, which is in reality half a UFO, accompanied by a full-wall mirror making the warehouse (which is filled with labeled crates, barrels, and boxes) look twice as big. After you enter the UFO, you reach the loading station, which has tubes which contain Kings Dominion tourists (decked with Kings Dominion hats, shirts, etc.) who are frozen.
Once you sit down in the ride, you pull down your lap bar, and the ride attendant goes, “All clear? Good-bye.” And suddenly, you are pushed right out of the station (unlike Stormrunner and Kingda Ka where you go slowly out of the station first) into a long tunnel and into the ride’s spaghetti bowl. The room is mostly pitch black, accompanied with some colored lights that light up parts of the track. Kings Dominion did a very good job with the indoor portion of the ride. I will not attempt to describe every inversion in this, but the ride’s highlight for me was a final corkscrew near the ground of the warehouse. This corkscrew makes it so you can hardly tell which way is up and which is down, and the whole ride is very smooth.
I got to ride this ride twice on my visit, and I waited about 20 minutes both times. It is worth the wait! I do wish that Kings Dominion had found a better way to include Flight of Fear (and for that matter, Intimidator 305 and Backlot Stunt Coaster) into their park than in the “Congo” section, as none of these rides have any Congo-theming at all.
What do you think about “Flight of Fear”? Please tell us your park thoughts, remember, that’s what the site’s called!

Typically, you spend more time in a queue line than anywhere else during your day at a theme park. Some parks go above and beyond to make sure guests are entertained, even while they’re waiting in line. We see these as the top 10 queue lines in the world:
1. Dueling Dragons
This queue line takes you through castles, caves, and caverns, filled with skeletons, bones, and more scenery telling the story of the Fire and Ice Dragons.
2. Revenge of the Mummy
Revenge of the Mummy (there is a full review on this site)’s line takes you through the on-location set for the newest “Mummy” movie, inside an Egyptian tomb.
3. Flight of Fear
This line takes you inside an Area 51-style aircraft hanger, where they are holding a UFO. The queue line goes into the UFO, where you load the coaster. Something I found interesting was, I found a crack in the wall. I looked inside to see if I could see the loading station or maybe some behind the scenes stuff, but there was a pile of dead “aliens”. It is interesting that they used my curiosity to theme the ride even further.
4. Terminator Salvation: The Ride
Though I haven’t been on the ride yet, the queue line looks amazing! The outdoor queue has an apocalyptic feel with rusty metal fences and machines, and the indoor queue features three-pre shows, tunnels, and more.
5. Rock ‘n RollerCoaster
Rock ‘n RollerCoaster’s queue line is through a recording studio, where you watch a pre-show, and then into a very realistic “parking garage”, where you load the limos.
6. Space Mountain
Space Mountain’s queue, which is under rehab, took you through a light tunnel and had great mysterious space music, and the station also has no roof, so you can see green cars flying by in the huge dome. The queue shows no distinct theming, which might be what they are adding now.
7. JAWS
JAWS at Universal’s queue line reminds me of being down the shore, because on the TVs they have corny TV ads and shows similar to shore shows, and restaurants that would be found on the shore. On the walls, there is a poster giving out a reward for the shark that killed Alexander, the boy from the movie.
8. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
This queue line is western themed with wood, pretty generic, but what is cool is that you go through the rock formations, and you can the train negotiating the track.
9. Loch Ness Monster
The Loch Ness Monster at Busch has little, but effective theming. There is a board telling about the dive to try and find Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster, and precedures for what should happen if she is found.
10. Batman: The Ride
I’ve only been on the clone at Great Adventure, but they are each themed differently. The queue starts in Gotham Park, with tons of greenery, shrubs, and fountains. There is a construction wall which says something like “Gotham, Building a Better Future” with sounds of jackhammers and picks and construction. Behind, you can hear cars passing over the underpass, and you see a junkyard with barbed wire fences, and hear police dogs chasing gangs. You enter the “Broad Ave. Storm Drain”, where you can hear Alfred telling you to hurry and come up to the Batcave, because trouble is following you. This is very effective, but does not reprieve a ride which is rough and not very fun.
