Splash Town Water Park in Spring, Texas will be debuting Stingray Racer. An all new ProSlide OctopusRacer for their 2010 season. On Stingray Racer, guests will get to challenge 5 of their friends into a high energy, high tension speed race down the slide. The ride begins with a helix rounding in opposite directions on each side. Then, the big ending with a 40+ foot high drop into a long straight away to determine the winner.
The OctopusRacer seems to be the latest and greatest new trend in water parks today. The standard mat racer looks like it is now yesterdays rules as these newer creations have longer ride times, feature a spiral, and can have either 1 steep, big drop, or multiple mini drops like the standard Mat Racer. I think this is a great trend. They certainly seem like more exciting.

Cedar Point has set up several Web Cams over the year and one of them looms high above the rest of the park. When the fog rolled in one morning, it set a beautiful picture of Cedar Point. Covering the lower portion of the park, it makes the park seems like it is literally jumping out of the clouds. It almost looks like roller coaster heaven.
Mantis, Tower of Power, Wicked Twister, and a few other coasters can be seen jumping from the clouds. What a spectacular sight. The park’s Ohio location is one of the best for any theme park. Cedar Point is nestled on a strip of land extending out from the coastline into one of the Great Lakes. It provides for spectacular views on some of taller attractions and I can only imagine how it would feel to ride Millenium Force or Top Thrill Dragster in this fog.

Rock Band Live will hit Cedar Fair parks across the country this season. The concert style event will take place in various theaters in nearly ever park owned by the company. The show will feature elaborate costume designs, several live singers, and actors who will sing karaoke style to some of the best Rock Band tunes in this 30 minute show. The main band will feature several members each with their very own and distinct personalities. Some of these personalities include the “Mom” character, a groupie, a leader singer, guitarist, so on and so forth.
Audience members will be selected prior to the show and will go on stage for one final rock out before the ending of the concert extravaganza. Funland Blog has some really interesting concept renderings of the outfits that will be worn by the performers during the show. Be sure to check it out here.

To me, this certainly sounds like a nice little addition that may gain quite the audience. Rock Band is a familiar item and using it to market a new show sounds great. Certainly, I do not expect this entertainment offering to be a showstopper, but I do find it to be a step up from the Dance Dance Revolution and Karaoke “shows” (I use that term loosely) that most Cedar Fair and Six Flags theme parks currently offer.
