Universal Studios is preparing for tomorrow’s opening day. And now more and more information is surfacing about the park. However, no opening goes over well without problems as nearly every theme park enthusiast has learned over the years, and Universal Studios Sinapore is no different.
First off, the good news is that the park has been going through full previews lately meaning guests are able to ride the rides (and more importantly get videos!) of each of the various attractions. Sentosa Theme Park Blog has several updates from inside the park.
The Jurassic Park River Adventure has shaped up to be a real winner. It is certainly a very well done twists on the classic Universal Studios ride. Also, one of the rides unique attractions, Canopy Flyer, a supsended family coaster also seems like a real hit. In short, the Universal Studios Singapore designers set out to make this park unique and high quality, and they achieved it.
Unfortunatley, the park has been having issues with the website being overloaded with too many eager guests trying to get tickets. The park was expecting many people to go to the park to buy tickets and not online, however it happened in reverse. Better luck next time! Also police are warning guests of pick pockets that have been lurking in Universal Studios Singapore.
Universal Studios Sinagpore’s signature attraction is Battlestar Galatica: The Ride. This dueling Vekoma coaster has a Human (Sit-Down) side as well as a Cylon (Inverted) side that duel in a twisted layout with some near miss moments. The coaster features a high speed “launching” lift hill that accelerates up and over the first hill before twisting and spinning over the Sci-Fi area. Decide which are you: Human or Cylon?
Construction everywhere? Looks like we are still in the off season. Parks across the nation are in the process of completing their 2010 additions just in time for the new season to start! Isn’t it exciting that opening day is just a few weeks away for many of us! From coast to coast, there is a plenty of tractors and dirt moving to make the average contractor cry.
Up in land of the Candians, La Ronde has begun to put their newly found Vekoma Suspended Looping Coasters into the air. The twisted layout is one of the most sucessful coaster models in the world. This specific new SLC is actually Serial Thriller from the long gone park, Six Flags Astroworld. One parks trash in another parks treasure. Check out the park’s Facebook page for some construction pictures.
Down south in Silver Dollar City, the park is gearing up for their 50th Anniversary Celebration this year. In honor of 50 wonderful years, the park is debuting Tom and Huck’s River Blast. Guests will board rafts and head down the river with Tom and Huck as they hit targets, and pass immersive environments. The construction gallery the park has posted has some great pictures of the rafts, and the environments and if I say so myself, this ride looks very impressive.
Finally, Nickelodeon Universe is going to be adding the world’s first Unicoaster made by Zamplera. We showed you the impressive looking contraption back in November and the manufacturer has made it’s first sell to the indoor theme park in Mall of America. This new flat ride/coaster will be the park’s first major addition since it’s grand reopening in 2008. Valleyfair Zone has a great selection of pictures, check them out here.
This is just a small part of the mass amount of construction going on everywhere. Be sure to subscribe to Park Thoughts Twitter to get some up to date construction like this picture of Intimidator. What are your thoughts? Leave a comment with your Park Thoughts by clicking the Respond button below!
Six Flag’s Magic Mountain has finally unveiled their highly anticipated family coaster; Mr. Six’s Dance Coaster. The Vekoma Roller Skater is making its journey from its former Jazzland home in New Orleans to Valencia, California, to please hundreds of little thrill seekers. Topping off at just 28 feet, the ride seems to be an excellent addition to the park with its family appeal, however, it does have a controversial height limit at 42″. Considering that nearly every other coaster of this exact same model has a height limit, of about 36″, it’s family appeal has gone way down. None the less, the coaster features the unique theme of guests riding a pair of dancing shoes and jamming to the classic Mr. Six music.
Universal Studios Singapore construction continues to move along as the soft openings begin and the official opening approaches. It appears that all the park has left is minor details and it is just about ready for opening! Get ready, for an amazing park.
A bit of interesting news has come out of the IAPPA Expo this week, it looks like the second Déjà Vu has finally been sold and will be headed to Brazil in the near future.
