China seems to get all the fun stuff, first a new 4D Coaster, and now a huge GCI terrain coaster.  Yes, GCI made the big reveal today after playing mind games with the coaster enthusiast world.  Opening this season at Knight Valley in Shenzen, China will be an incredibly huge, terrain following wooden coaster.  Topping off at about 147 feet and reaching speeds just shy of 62 mph, the unnamed wooden coaster will easily be on the biggest creations that company has ever pumped out.   The track extends over 4,100 feet and the biggest drop will be a 131 foot plummet towards the earth below.  The new Chinese giant will be Great Coasters International largest creation to date.  While, the mammoth is the largest, it will of course feature some of the company’s signature elements: the station fly-by, the twisting layout, and the airtime inducing hills.  One of the best parts about this ride, is similar to Prowler, another GCI creation that opened in 2009, the coaster will be in a dense forest, meaning riders will have no idea which way the track twist next.

I have to say I am becoming quite jealous of China.  Are you?  Leave a comment with your Park Thoguhts below!

The HoliBlog recently teamed up with the great guys at Gravity Group to show off some of the features of the upcoming Timberliner trains that will be installed to the Voyage in Holiday World.  Indiana’s number 1 theme park will be improving the already outstanding wooden coaster with these new trains.

The Timberliners are very unique in several ways.  One of the biggest ones is that the trains actually steer. Traditional wooden coaster trains (in fact all wooden coaster trains prior to this) had fixed axles so the trains would be forced around the turn.  The new style of trains will allow each car to glide around the turns as the wheels each can swivel slightly.

Another great feature is the lap bar system.  Gravity Group set out to create a way for the the park to have maximum capacity, and one way of doing that was by having a quicker loading time.  Timberliners have lap bars that come from the side to over the waste to allow for no seat belt necessary making for safety checks to be much faster.  These restraints accomadate a wide variety of shapes and sizes, so big Uncle Bill and little Bobby can enjoy the Voyage.

Voyage will become even more impressive with the sleek train designs that are very stylish.  They have a very distinct silhouette.  Not only do they look nice, but the cars ride better as well.  Each duo of seats is accommodated suspension to allow for yet a smoother ride (as if steering was not enough).

I highly recommend you watch the video as they Gravity Group makes everything entertaining.  What do you think of the Timberliners?  Leave a comment with your Park Thoughts below!

Holiday World’s Voyage, a Gravity Group hybrid wooden coaster, considered by many to be one of the best wooden coasters in the world will be doing away with its standard PTC trains, and replacing them with the new prototype ’Timberliner’ trains that were introduced by Gravity Group at last year’s IAPPA Expo.  These trains are extremely similar to the famous ‘Millennium Flyer‘ trains found on all newer GCI wooden coasters that are known for providing a smooth ride.  The park’s president Will Koch stated that the trains will result in much less wear and tear on the track and, due to less friction, the ride may be even faster than before.

This is definitely a good move by Holiday World. The addition of the these new trains on a ride that is already considered one of the best will certainly make the ride truly claim its spot as the top wooden coaster in the world.
