There’s much more theming than just a few cardboard cut-outs. It’s kind of hard to comment on the theming if you’ve never been to the park, right?

The entrance plaza for the ride has a huge cut-out of Green Lantern. There’s a huge lantern on a plaza with the Green Lantern emblem concreted into the ground. Once you step into the queue house, the story of Hal Jordan / The Green Lantern is explained on comic book panels, like Bizarro. A figher jet prop is on the ground under one of the corkscrews, themed as Hal Jordan’s plane. Approaching the station, you see that it is themed as an airplane hangar, with the Ferris Airline logo on top of the station. Once under the station, signs explain to you why the loop is yellow (Parallax), and signs tell you that you have been asked to join the battle against Parallax. Green Lantern tells you to recite the Green Lantern oath and join the battle, and you are allowed to walk up the stairs into the station. The station has the Ferris Airline logo inside as well, with “Where Courage Takes Flight” written above the tracks, and you read that as your train leaves the station, and goes onto the lift hill. Once on the lift hill, speakers blast the Green Lantern oath with dramatic music playing in the background, and you take off.

Once you leave the ride, you can see your “Flight Photos”. Also, I forgot to mention that the ride ops refer to riders as “pilots”, and instead of saying “Enjoy your ride on Green Lantern”, they say “Flight 0758 is ready for departure,” etc. 

Next time, before you bash a ride’s theming, actually ride the ride first.

What theming did it have as Chang? 

Epic? I’m not sure I would use those words to describe a ride with some gravel, a cardboard fighter jet, and a big shiny lantern.  The cut outs sure do put the theming over the edge now don’t they!

I’m just hopeful all of this will last more than 1-2 years and the tie ins will stay with the ride for the for-seeable future (and considering how this is a DC comic, I do believe the theming will stick unlike Wiggles World/Big Spin)
