Today, Carowinds began vertical construction on Intimidator with the station track now fully in place. This was a surprise to many people who were guessing that Kings Dominion would see track in place before Carowinds. For me, I kind of expected Carowinds to see track in place first, building a much more common coaster type than the rare breed of Intamin Gigas, which leads to a faster construction. For example, Carolina Cobra, one of the most common roller coaster types, while it is small, went up in a a little over a week.
