The most recent poll was about what was your favorite new addition of 2010. The options consisted of a wide variety from shows, to coasters, to entire parks. The options were: World of Color, the nighttime spectacular at Disney California Adventure with 1000+ fountains, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Islands of Adventure’s highly anticipated land themed around the billion dollar franchise, Intimidator 305, what’s being described as the new Millenium Force at King’s Dominion, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the fast and furious indoor theme park featuring the fastest coaster on the planet, Universal Studios Singapore, Universal’s latest and most unique creation that features Dreamworks themed areas as well as a dueling pair of Vekoma coasters, or if you didn’t feel that any of these were the best new additions of 2011 the final option was Other.
With a fairly large margin, the winner was the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Out of the 56 total votes, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter received 41% of the votes. Intimidator 305 came in second with 20%, then World of Color and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi each with 16%, and rounding out the bottom was Universal Studios Singapore with 5% and Other with just 1 vote. As much as the Disney fan boy in me wants to believe World of Color is the best, I have to hand to Universal’s Islands of Adventure by truly pushing the envelope in theme park entertainment with Potter verse. The detailing is spectacular, and theming is unparalleled to anything we have seen in the last decade (excluding Tokyo DisneySea). Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is a completely unique and revolutionary ride system, and the amount of work that went into the area is unbelievable.
