An update from Cedar Point published by the Sandusky Register has given another clue, along with an approximate announcement date, to Cedar Point’s new 2011 attraction. The new ride for 2011 will be announced in Mid-August. ”It’s going to bring back a lot of memories for people that follow Cedar Point,” said Dick Kinzel, Cedar Fair’s Chairman & CEO.

That quote, and atop the rumors that Cedar Fair will be building more Great Coasters International rides, could mean the first wooden roller coaster at Cedar Point since Mean Streak was added 1991. The theme of the new ride could hark back to the day’s of one of Cedar Point’s first coasters, Cyclone, which was added in 1929 (it was removed in 1951).

Prowler at Worlds of Fun was built by Great Coasters International for the 2009 Season. It is ranked #8 in the world.
Is it long overdue for Cedar Point to receive a Great Coasters International woodie? Will they try to build the best wooden coaster on the planet? Leave your thoughts below.

The rumors have been online for weeks, but there hasn’t been any confirmation… Until an event on the Six Flags Great Adventure Facebook page appeared…
The Great American Scream Machine, the classic Arrow looping giant at Six Flags Great Adventure will indeed be closing forever on Sunday, July 18, 2010. According to insiders, and that Six Flags Great America has called off construction of a coaster for next year, almost indeed confirm that Chang, Kentucky Kingdom’s once-prized B&M Stand-Up coaster, will be heading to the park to replace GASM.
The classic ride opened in 1989. It’s one of the largest Arrow loopers, reaching 173 feet in the air with speeds up to 68 MPH. It features three loops, a batwing element, and two corkscrews accounting for a total of seven inversions.
If you’d like to be one of the last riders, you can enter the contest that was announced via the park’s Facebook page.

What do you think of the rumored replacement of GASM with Chang? Do you think it’s a good move for Six Flags, or are they taking out a coaster classic? Leave your thoughts below.

Intimidator 305, the much debated new ride this year at Kings Dominion, has recieved many technical fixes since it opened a few months ago. Intamin, the ride’s builder, had to add in trim brakes on the first hill to slow down the ride since many people were complaining about graying out, even blacking out.
However, a new fix has arrived that has been rumored since the ride was announced. The typical over-the-sholder restraints found on most new Intamins have been replaced with straps. The Coaster Crew was able to ride the ride, and they say that the ride “is a brand new ride” now.

The normal Intamin restraints have caused head banging on I305′s tight turns and allowed people to float higher than what was comfortable. From what The Coaster Crew is saying, the head banging is gone and the new straps keep you snug in your seat.
So, what are your thoughts on the new restraints? Will these make up for the ride’s slower speed now? Post your thoughts below and like this post on Facebook to share with your friends.
